Adios Espagna, bienvenu France
Well, we didn't get to swim in the Bay of Biscay or the Mediterranean. And we didn't hire bikes to ride up Montjuic. But we did do a lot of walking. Montjuic was the site of the 1992 Olympics, so Ray insisted we walk around all the sites. We also couldn't find the funicular, so walked up, and then had to spend another 3 hours walking around the art museum. At least it didn't rain! But with all the walking, we didn't have time to hit the beach.
managed to sneak in a visit to the Picasso museum before we had to go to the airport. Our trip to Paris went very smoothly, and we even found our hotel without an argument, but the rain followed us. We went to a little bar and brasserie last night, which was not too expensive and had great food and a friendly atmosphere.
today we wandered down to the left bank, in search of a tarte fraises. Which we found. Ooh, la la. walked around the Luxembourg gardens and were going to take a guided walk, starting near Notre Dame, but the heavens opened and it was freezing (maximum of twelve degrees today), so we retired to a brasserie for lunch instead!
just arrived back at our hotel, with its charcoal walls, black and white Paris wallpaper feature, and tres chic lighting. It is on the fourth floor, and Ray insists on taking the stairs instead of the lift, because after dinner, two people wouldn't fit in it.
this is the last post on our trip. Hopefully we will manage to catch the plane tomorrow for the long trip back home.
See you soon.
