This could not be a you know what?

Barthelona

After lots more spectacular scenery and the slave whinging about the tolls on the fabulous four lane highway which ran all the way to Barcelona, we drove straight to our hotel, only to find absolutely no parking anywhere but in expensive car parks. So we dropped off our luggage and contacted Europcar, so we could ditch the car early. Fortunately, we could take it to the train station, and not the airport as originally intended. However, finding Europcar at the train station took us about as long as it would have to drive to the airport!

This city has rent a bike stations all over the place, with 6000 bikes available. We decided to walk the 5 Km's back from the train station, but really wanted to use the bikes, only couldn't figure out how. Other people seemed to just stroll up, insert some money and take a bike. After some research, we found that the bikes are only available to residents, as is street parking.

We took a walk up to gaudi's church yesterday morning, where I think the 3 million visitors to the icon each year were gathered! We decided to go home and book online to get inside. Trouble is, there are no tickets available, so that is one church we will miss out on. But we did book a bicycle tour of the city and amused ourselves for a few hours by dodging pedestrians and seeing the sites with an American guide.

Today we will hire some bikes and go up the hill overlooking the city. Ray assures me it is not very high.......

hopefully we will also get a swim at the beach, because the sun is shining.

See you all soon
