Not so sunny Scotland 7/09/2013
We had some brisk castle ruin tours today as it was a rather fresh 8 degrees (we are in the highlands) and it was raining too. Caught up with Di and Mick, who found us the last room in the inn in Inverbervie, as there has been an oil conference on in Aberdeen, and every where is booked out.
Things are happening all over the area, with an air show, a motorbike rally, bike rides for Scotland .... This morning we got up early and went for a walk on the "beach". A little bit different to HB.
No sand, just shingle, which was really difficult to walk on. It was a balmy 11 degrees, but the North Sea felt a bit colder.
Excitingly today, on our way from taking a photo at strachan, the mobile phone fell off the car (it wasn't me) after about ten k's of sitting on the roof, and landed in the middle of the road. Ray saw it happen, and two following cars narrowly missed it by inches.
We turned around and picked it up and it is still working! We stopped at Alford for lunch today and to book a room for tonight. The tourist info lady wasn't hopeful, but after 30 mins she found us a great place just beyond the ski fields at Tomintoul.
We are now on the whiskey trail and will visit some distilleries tomorrow. I'll put some piccies on Facebook after the camera recharges - it is completely worn out with all the pics we have been taking. B and R
