At the Beach

Finally a holiday! We looked at the map and decided against travelling 2000kms across Spain via the south in 8 days. So we have headed north to travel across the top of Spain, along the Bay of Biscay. We just had to come to Foz because of the obvious name association (see we haven't forgotten about youse, Sarah and Foz). It's kinda like the Weymouth of north Spain, only newer. Well most of it is new, but it is really old, just like the jurassic coast of southern England. We are going to visit prehistoric cave paintings tomorrow. You remember Altamira and the horse paintings? Yep, that's about where we are going. They also call it the jurassic coast, only added an a for spanish purposes!

Mostly Spaniards come here for holidays in the summer, but now there is just about nobody, as we discovered when we went out for our 10pm dinner. Nothing is open where we are, so we had to drive across the river to get some food. That meant that I could not enjoy any wine, as it is my turn to drive right through Spain. The only accident that nearly happened so far, was when I just about chucked Ray out of a speeding car for being a backseat driver. Anyway, have managed to find our way and have only driven down one one-way street the wrong way.

Today, we did practically nothing. We did plan on going for a swim, but the weather turned cloudy and cool, and the water remained freezing. We walked along the Great Ocean Road (well it looked just like it), after we could not find anywhere to hire a bike. The place is practically deserted. There are a million apartments, but they are all shut up for the winter, I guess. We had a huge lunch at a great place overlooking the water, and then came back home to sleep it off. It's about 8pm now, so we will eat the leftovers from last night's dinner, and then stroll down to the one bar that is open for a drink.
