Cold Harrietville 6/10/26

After two days of mountains on rough gravel tracks, I was hunkering for a flat bitumen trail for an easy day. We decided to revisit Harrietville, an easy 55km round trip. Ray thought it would be a little bit interesting to start out from a different route. Hmm, google maps has a lot to answer for.

The bitumen road turned into gravel, and then we had to cross a creek, with water over the road. So guess who got wet feet on this grey and 11 degree max (felt like 7) day? Both of us. A few words were expressed.

Anyway, we joined the path soon after, and were surprised to find the salmon farm open for business and coffee. They even had baklava which was edible - did I mention dinner in a Turkish restaurant in Armidale? The decor was superb but the baklava had seen too many minutes in a microwave, ending up like a rock.

We managed to return to Bright on the real path which was shorter and drier. We have spent four days in Bright and I still haven't found a good coffee,  so tomorrow's we will be moving on to Beechworth. Who knows what dastardly ride Ray has planned.

Watering the Trout.... or was it the small salmon. Just out of shot is a collection of bamboo poles that are hired out to catch the fish in the ponds. And there were people actually fishing with the bamboo poles.

Behind this perfectly acceptable flowering plant was an incredible garden. But we didn't ake a photo of the garden.
